empiriQa is a deep-tech spin-off of the quantum-optics lab at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń — a small team of physicists and engineers turning more than twenty years of research into quantum-secure communication that ships, and gets independently verified.

Michał Drogosz
CEO
Michał leads empiriQa's strategy, team development and scaling, and is responsible for commercialisation and relationships with key partners. He brings over 15 years of experience in the space and aerospace industry, combining an engineering background with executive roles. As CEO of AROBS Polska, he built a space electronics and software company from the ground up and brought in a strategic investor. His earlier roles include Deputy Managing Director at Airbus/NAVBLUE, Head of Aerospace at SENER Polska, where he led ESA projects, and engineer at the Space Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
Piotr Kolenderski, PhD
Founder & CTO
Piotr leads empiriQa’s technology development and R&D activities, with a focus on quantum-secure communications and space-based quantum technologies. He is a professor at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, where he leads the Single Photon Applications Laboratory. With 20+ years of expertise in quantum optics and satellite quantum communications, he has led numerous research and development projects, including activities for the European Space Agency, focusing on Quantum Key Distribution, entangled photon sources, optical ground station technologies, and secure satellite communication.
